COLORADO - Handgun Rules
18-12-105(2)] Colorado law also allows a person to possess a handgun in a dwelling, place of business, or automobile. However, when you carry the weapon into your home, business, hotel room, etc. it must be in plain view. Local jurisdictions may not enact laws that restrict a person's ability to travel with a weapon.
Can you carry a handgun in Colorado without a permit? Yes. A permit is not required for anyone legally entitled to carry a firearm to carry a handgun in his or her own dwelling or place of business or on property owned or under his or her control at the time of the act of carrying.
Can you walk around with a gun in Colorado? Since open carry is legal in Colorado (other than in Denver), there are no penalties unless you openly carry a prohibited weapon or are legally prohibited from possessing a handgun. A first-time violation of carrying a prohibited weapon under 8-12-106 C.R.S is usually a class 1 misdemeanor in Colorado.
